Knowledge Exchange Unit

  • Helps researchers develop and share knowledge through exchange with communities, govt, not-for-profit, and public
    • Supports UBC students, researchers, and staff to develop skills, plan and implement, and have resources to support knowledge exchange across disciplines.

University Industry Liaison Office (UILO)

  • Institutional approval for research contracts and agreements
    • Partnerships with industry, government, and non-profit
    • Provide support to researchers with patents, inventions, spin-off companies
    • Negotiates contracts, material transfer and data transfer agreements
    • Tech transfer group
      • Intellectual property – protects rights and interests of UBC researchers

  • Facilitates research developed / conducted in collaboration with Indigenous communities and led by Indigenous perspectives

UBC Learning Exchange – Community Based Research

  • The Learning Exchange is an entry point for faculty from UBC and other universities to engage with Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
